2019 Ford Explorer Oil Type and Capacities

Ford recommends that for all oil changes in the 2019 Ford Explorer, genuine Motorcraft motor oil is used.

I have done the work for you and found genuine oil and filter products on Amazon to make it that much easier for you.

The 2019 Ford Explorer requires 5.7 q of 5W-30 in the 2.3 L EcoBoost engine and 6.0 q of 5W-20/5W-30 for the 3.5 L Duramax/EcoBoost engines respectively. See the chart below for all recommendations.

Motorcraft is the manufacturer of choice for both the engine oil and filter from Ford.

If Motorcraft brand is not available, an oil that meets the ILSAC-GF-5 multigrade oil specifications can be used and other compatible filters may work.

For cold temperatures, 0W-30/0W-20 oil should be used.

2.3 L EcoBoost Engine

The 2019 Ford Explorer 2.3 L Ecoboost engine requires 5.7 q of 5W-30 engine oil.

It also requires Motorcraft FL-910-S Oil Filter.

3.5 L Duratec Engine

The 2019 Ford Explorer 3.5 L Duratec engine requires 6.0 q of 5W-20 engine oil.

It also requires Motorcraft FL2062 Oil Filter.

3.5 L EcoBoost Engine

The 2019 Ford Explorer 3.5 L EcoBoost engine requires 6.0 q of 5W-30 engine oil.

It also requires Motorcraft FL-500-S Oil Filter.
